California Consular Legalization for Apostilled Documents

If you're processing a document for use in a foreign country that is not party to the Hague Convention, the document will require additional legalization after it has been apostilled by the California Secretary of State. Here are some countries for which we often process such documents:

China

We will bring your apostilled document to the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco, get it legalized, and return it to you or ship it directly to China. In addition to the document, the Consulate requires a copy of your passport and, for commercial documents, proof of authority to represent the organization. The Chinese Consulate turnaround time is typically 2-3 business days.*

Indonesia

We will get your apostilled document authenticated by the Indonesian Consulate in San Francisco. Afterwards, we can return it to you or ship it directly to the recipient in Indonesia. It usually takes 2-3 business days to legalize a document for use in Indonesia.*

Taiwan

Taiwan is not technically recognized as a country by the United States, so there's no Taiwanese Consulate. Instead, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) handles the business usually done by a consular office, including document authentication. We will take your document to the TECO location in San Francisco for legalization and then return it to you or send it directly to Taiwan. The typical processing time is 2-3 business days*

Vietnam

Vietnam requires consular authentication in addition to apostilles. We will bring your document to the Vietnamese Consulate in San Francisco for legalization, pick it up, and ship it to you or the final recipient in Vietnam. The typical processing time is 2-3 business days*

Embassy Legalization for Apostilled Federal Documents

China

After your federal document has been apostilled by the US State Department, we will bring it to the Chinese Embassy in Washington, DC, to get it legalized. Then we can return it to you or send it directly to China.
